Airport Shops
If you are a mystery shopper who frequently travels, you may want to consider completing assignments while at the airport. Customer service is an important detail for airport employees and there are numerous companies that assignment mystery shops at just about any airport in the country.
There are several types of shops to select:
Customer Service:
This is an assignment that is for pre and post security stores and restaurants at the airport. Shoppers will either have a pre-assigned question or make up a question to ask an employee to see what type of information is supplied. There is usually a small purchase required. The fee and reimbursement are not extremely high ( $5 - $15 range) but if you are already traveling, this can be a way to make some extra cash and have your snacks reimbursed.
Integrity Shop:
An employee may be observed to see how cash issues are handled. A shopper might be assigned a shop that involves simply leaving the cash on the counter and not waiting for the change. The employee is expected to alert the customer to the remaining change. If an employee keeps the money, this is an integrity issue that the employer will want to know about. Integrity shops involve two shoppers. One will complete the assignment and one will observe what is going on. The observer is usually called a "spotter."
Badged assignments:
This assignment involves the shopper going past security. The shopper will either need to have a boarding pass or have access to secured areas. Many companies will sponsor a shopper to gain access to any terminal in an airport. Badged shoppers don.t need a boarding pass and don.t have to wait in the long security lines. The id badge will allow them to step to the front of the line and go through security.
Since airport employees may get special treatment, it is important not to show your airport id while you are mystery shopping. The id can be discreetly removed after going through the security line. Shoppers that have the time to accept several assignments can make spare money by shopping at the airport.
These assignments are usually on a monthly basis. If you live near an airport, you may want to start checking job boards to gain access to these types of assignments.
